New Membership

Welcome to Grundy Electric Cooperative!

Your membership makes you a member-owner of Grundy Electric Cooperative, Inc., a service-oriented, non-profit business. To obtain service, applicants must first become a member of the cooperative.

To Apply for Membership
To apply for membership and service, please contact our main office by calling 1-800-279-2249 between the hours of 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday thru Friday to request a membership application.

If there has never been service at your property, a staking technician will meet with you to determine the best location for the requirements of your new service. New services include installation of a main disconnect switch under the meter for services 200 amps and under. For larger services, equipment will be provided by the member. All member wiring should be done by a qualified electrician and must comply with the National Electric Code.

Credit Evaluation
Routine credit evaluations are part of the membership sign-in process for all new accounts. Everyone who requests a new membership will be subject to a credit evaluation to determine the amount. Members deposit will be refunded when the account is disconnected if no balance is due on the account.

Transfer of Electric Service
When you move out, and another person moves into your residence or business, you are responsible for the electric bill until a request for transfer is made.

When You Move
If you are planning to move and no longer want service, please notify the cooperative in advance of the date you want the meter disconnected. We will remove the meter, get a final reading, and apply your deposit (if any) to your final bill. If the final bill is less than the deposit, the cooperative will refund the difference, or transfer it to an active account.
